REGISTRATION
Registration
1. Regular Registration
  • A. Master’s/ Doctoral Degree: Minimum of four semesters except summer/winter semester
  • B. Master’s & Ph.D joint program : Minimum of eight semesters except summer/winter semester
  • C. Registration is completed when students pay the tuition and enroll for classes.
2. Research Registration
  • A. Master’s Degree:
    Registration can be made after submitting application for research registration if needed(students can maintain their status as a student of CAU graduate school while conducting the project such as BK21 or external research project).
  • B. Doctoral Degree/ Master’s & Ph.D joint program:
    Registration must be done twice(for two semesters) upon completion of the coursework and the submission of the thesis
  • C.
    (1) Master’s & Ph.D joint program students can register from the time the doctoral course starts.
    (2) Registration is mandatory at the first semester after completion of doctoral course, and after that, the students must apply for the research registration in the thesis submission semester.

Credit Registration
  • A. Master/Doctoral/ Master’s & Ph.D joint program: Spring Semester-February; Fall Semester-August
  • B. Students who register for more than four semesters in Master’s/ Doctoral course or, for more than eight semesters in Master’s & Ph.D joint program but have less than 3 credits for completion are eligible for credit registration. * If you need more than 4 credits for completion, you must register in full semester.

Leave of Absence
General Leave of Absence
1. Leave of Absence for Foreign Students
  • A. Foreign students who wish to take a leave of absence must complete the leave of absence application, get confirmation from the dean of their college and the International Affairs(first floor in main building) and then submit it to the administration office of the Graduate School.
  • B.
    (1) Apply online at the ‘campus’ System within 30 days after the semester begins (Refer to the Academic Calendar).
    (2) Leave of absence is permitted for a unit of one year, the total period of which may not exceed three years.
    (3) Students will be dismissed if they failed to reinstate after the expiration of leave of absence.

Tuition Refund Criteria(to the students who take a leave of absence from the spring semester of 2017)

※ Students who have paid tuition fees by the second semester of 2016 and taken a leave of absence will retain an alternative registration for the return semester.
Special Leave of Absence
1. Leave of Absence for Parenting(Pregnancy, Childbirth, Child-care)
  • A. Leave of absence for pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing under 8years old within 4 semesters.
  • B. In order to take a special leave of absence, the applicant must submit the application form with required documents to the Administrative office of the Graduate School one week before the final exam and get permission.
  • How to Apply

Returning from a Leave of Absence
1. Returning from a Leave of Absence for Foreign Students
  • A. If foreign students want to return from a leave of absence, fill out the application for returning and receive confirmation from the head of the department or the office of International Affairs(the first floor of the main building) and submit it to the Administrative office of the Graduate School.
  • Other conditions of leave of absence are same as those of the general leave of absence.

Re-admission
1. Re-admission
  • A. Submit the re-admission form to the Administrative office of the Graduate School within the application period(refer to academic calendar).
  • B. Students who have withdrawn or expelled from the school will be allowed to readmit only if there is a vacancy in the student's school year.
  • Requirements for re-admission
    • (1) In the case of general re-admission, students who have expired one year after the expulsion and withdrawal. However, students who did not return from leave of absence in returning period and who have not been registered are not allowed to readmit.
    • (2) Students who are expelled due to discipline or an excess the number of enrollment will not be allowed to readmit.
    • (3) Re-admission may not be allowed if readmission conditions are met but there are no vacancies.
    • (4) A student who has passed 5 years from the expulsion can not be readmitted.
